Green Jobs
The Green Hive will provide a venue for the development of a skilled workforce to meet the overall demand for “green” workforce education and skills training for both entry-level and incumbent workers in the design, construction, skilled trades, and the energy industry.
The Green Hive @ LACDD SourcePoint will:
- Provide learning opportunities to the community and students interested in “green” careers
- Provide resource materials to faculty and students as well as the public regarding green materials, certifications, and business standards.
- Develop a series of Green Service Learning components for use in career tech education and general education courses.
- Develop educational awareness workshops and lectures for students and community interested green options for building and living.
- Enrich instruction in sustainable construction, architecture, and other related LACCD programs;
- Collaborate with LACCD and affiliates to develop certificate programs for trades people, contractors, and architects incorporating green standards.
- Develop partnerships with local business and industry leaders to promote education and information about green standards as well as related LACCD programs.
- Develop a learning community related to Green Technology and Options
- Promote internship and cooperative career education opportunities with affiliated agencies and businesses.
Integrating with current LACCD programs and others will nurture deeper relationships with a variety of industries, organizations and agencies (construction, power, etc.) associated with the facility resulting in the opportunities to provide:
- Workshops for businesses interested in adopting green business standards
- Community education for individuals (homeowners, business owners and educators) interested in “green” products and services.
- Training and consulting for the design/building industry
- LEED certification programs
- Specialized training for city planners and municipality managers.
