Resource Center

The sustainable design and resource center is a comprehensive facility that forms the educational core of The Green Hive, in conjunction with  academic partnerships (Community College or other). The resource center comprising the library, work area and conference center will be built, staffed and managed free from commercial influence.

This model facilitates considerable impact in the follow ways:

• The academic partner can play an important and highly relevant role in bridging green learning to the community at large and integrating with emerging industries and workforce development.
• The academic partner will be aligned with leading change agents within sustainable advancement.
• Provides a non-profit mechanism is in place for the grants, green initiative and contributions.
• The resource library will fulfill an important function of supplying up-to-date manufacturers’ specs and samples together with local vendor resources that can be utilized by affiliated industries and the community.
• Facilitates synergies in education, business and sustainability as green construction evolves.

 

Marketplace

Vendor leasing (Mall model)

Vendors meeting the standards and specifications to participate at The Green Hive will lease space in multiple 100 sq. ft. pods. Within The Green Hive guidelines, each vendor will be responsible for build-out and management of their unit.

Opportunities will be available for sponsorship of innovative technologies, services, space, media, in-kind and green. National and international brands, along with ideas for the future can be highlighted and rotational to keep fresh content and underscore educational and interest/entertainment factor. The Green Hive should be seen as a stimulating environment where ideas flourish.

 

Regional Solutions

The Green Hive is modular, scalable and repeatable.
Part of the criteria that certifies green products or services is that they are available within a specific local radius. Therefore, The Green Hive will fulfill a market need for local products and information as it opens in each region. Growth plans entail nationwide expansion one region at a time. The first Green Hive location will  open in early 2009, and by 2012 there will be six units across the country.

In cooperation with the academic community, The Green Hive’s Design Resource Center will form the educational core of the facility, free from any commercial influence or involvement. An extensive education and instruction curriculum will be offered through associated private organizations, professional associations, and academic institutions.

Companies, agencies and organizations will be given an extraordinary forum to exhibit and represent their solutions, support and services to the community in an educational and hands-on manner, without endorsement.

Architects, designers, contractors, manufacturers, consultants and others will work together and share experiences, resources and clients in The Green Hive’s incubator office. This space is designed to bring cohesion to a currently fragmented market.

The Green Hive is a venue to host “green” community special events, classes, training, networking, product announcements, parties and open houses and will provide a vehicle for professionals, educators, consumers and manufacturers to share, learn and grow.

The facility will be staffed by The Green Hive’s team of librarians, trained research assistants and interns who will provide onsite guidance and support. The team’s presence will ensure the expertise and attention to detail required to achieve consistent and sustained growth for the facility..
