The Green Hive Redefining "Green" Jobs

Every Position Must Encompass Sustainable Awareness

HERMOSA BEACH, CA (April 9, 2009) - The Green Hive, an integrated library, event center and marketplace designed to embrace, educate and promote sustainable design and building practices today announced its intention to redefine green jobs through training and education.

"At each location we will reach out to our local schools, our community colleges and universities, as well as the entire spectrum of employers with a goal to bring these groups into The Green Hive. Every legislator, city official, teacher, and student needs to be fluent in this new "green" language to affect the changes that we all seek toward sustainability of the economy and our environment." said Kris Kimble, President and CEO, The Green Hive.

Kimble adds, "We will give folks a one-stop opportunity to learn and then reposition themselves in the green job market. Our commitment is to teach people to be more employable by helping them to understand their role in a 'green' economy." The Green Hive will seek out the best programs and content to deliver training and education through its online and physical locations."

Kimble sees the need for leaders within education, government and industry to advocate for 'green' job training across all job descriptions. He believes that no longer is a 'green' job limited to the obvious (i.e. a solar panel installer) rather, each and every position from CFO to a grounds keeper will need to learn what their role encompasses as it relates to environmental responsibility.

Through The Green Hive's educational partners, its online destination, and their first physical location at 811 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles, The Green Hive is beginning to facilitate communication among the entire community as to the role all can serve in the movement toward sustainability.
